"The Sims 2" is coming to gaming consoles and handhelds in late October. The "Sims" franchise, published by Electronic Arts and developed by Maxis, has been a cash cow for EA with estimated sales topping over 25 million copies to date. The Sims was originally released for the PC in 2000 and surprised the gaming world with its wide appeal to people of all ages, genders and social classes. The original title, "The Sims," is easily one of the biggest selling PC games in history.

The release of Sims 2 holds true to the "Sims" tradition as gamers patiently take care of every need of their virtual humans in the simulated world. Sims 2 allows direct control of the Sims, a feature not present in previous editions. In addition, the game will support two-player gameplay. The PC version of Sims 2 was the number one PC game of 2004. Sims 2 will be available for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and PSP. With a ESRB rating of "T" for Teen, the title is scheduled to hit consoles on October 24.

Maybe once Maxis gets done counting their massive stacks of money they'll listen.
