Midway Games Inc. announced this week that it has acquired The Pitbull Syndicate Limited, a game development company located in the U.K. Pitbull is currently working on Midway’s "L.A. Rush," the next installment of the popular "Rush" franchise. Pitbull's biggest hit by far has been the popular "Test Drive" series, published by Infogrames and Accolade. Pitbull's experience is exclusively in racing titles. Titles of some of their other games include "Demolition Racer," "Over The Top," and the upcoming title "Automaniacs." Many of Pitbull's titles have been U.K. exclusives.

The move to take over Pitbull Syndicate was based on Midway’s desire to develop cutting-edge racing games. Matt Booty, Senior Vice President of Midway Worldwide Studios said, "Pitbull has mastered the art and science of arcade-style racers, with sophisticated technology…Pitbull will form the foundation of Midway's future racing games, and we are excited to expand our international presence in one of the strongest regions for game development talent in the U.K."

"Automaniacs" is set for release in the U.K. in December.
