The potential of tens of millions of new sales are at stake as Microsoft plans to market the Xbox 360 in mainland China next year. The move by the software giant is a smart strategy, as China is widely considered to be the fastest growing gaming market at this time. Tim Chen, Chief Executive of Greater China operations for Microsoft said to Reuters that, "Sales-wise, we're improving. We had over 30 percent growth in our last fiscal year. This year, hopefully, we can maintain similar growth."
Microsoft’s strategy will be to release the Xbox 360 at targeted regional areas in China. Manufacturing of the Xbox 360 will be done in various Southern China locations and will be released sometime after the initial launch of the 360 in the North America, Europe and Japan.
