Now ATi has officially cut off their bottleneck and is spanking NVidia in general aspects with a 610Mhz X1800 getting 91003dmark05, and realy card is clocked at 650Mhz

Short but sweet. TheINQ reports the X1800XT busting a whopping 9100 marks when clocked at 625MHz/1500MHz. And supposedly, those are not the final clocks. We may see up to 650MHz/1500MHz.

9100 / 625MHz = x / 650MHz
x = 9465??

Woah! It's teh spanking the 7800GTX there!

ATI is claiming that they'll have some definit leads in certain titles. In FEAR demo, they will outpace Nvidia by up to 90% and 40% in BF2.

Wow... the ATi card is really going to dominate when rendering large-scale environments (IE BF2) and it should really look nice in games that use a lot of normal mapping, or some other form of multi-texturing.

In basic english... ATi's card is designed to pull ahead by a huge amount in certain areas, while still managing to keep up an OK pace in others (there will be games where the nVidia card may outclass the X1800... but who knows, sometimes drivers can make all the difference)

As for it being 16/16... its got 16 pixel pipes and 8 vertex pipes, but each vertex pipe can handle 2 per clock cycle instead of one... so 8*2 = 16

In other words this is going to own the 7800GTX all over the place.

Looks like ATi is starting to take the lead in the graphics market...

Hmm. I'm looking forward to Overclocking this thing when I get it. Or should I just wait for that R580 rumored to come out at the end of the year? I dont know. Grrr, all these choices!

I love reading these, just waiting for the cards to come out and then th threads coming out about the cards being ****e and full of bugs, or not as good as they expected. After so many years in I.T I have seen it all. It's a forever war that is only lead by the chipset company who releases first. nVidia and ATi never release at the same time, so for six months one will own, then the new card is released and the other company owns..etc etc

It's worse than the fashion cycle :)

I'm sure it''l be a great card, no doubt, but i'll be interested to see how it runs in six months time....

Well the NDA's on ATI's new video cards are over so the benchmarks are out. I thought I'd collect some information and post it here for those who don't want to read over a bunch of different reviews.

The X1800's are fabbed at TMSC using a 90nm process, while Nvidia's 7800 GTX is fabbed at TMSC using a 110nm process.

For the games listed I simply choose the highest resolutions available using all non-synthetic game benchmarks that I saw. I may update the list with more.

-Power Consumption
X1800 XT uses more power at idle then 2(!) 7800GTX's.
Under load a single X1800 XT is halfway between a single 7800GTX and two 7800GT's. For power consumption I think it's fair to say the X1800 XT is terrible.

- Noise Levels
The X1800 XT is 3-4db higher then the 7800GTX at idle and at load. So it's noisier but this isn't too bad, most would consider this to be fairly quiet.

- Games - X1800 XT relative to 7800 GTX
27% Slower - Doom 3 (2048x1536 Ananad)
0% Even - FarCry (2048x1536 Ananad)
2% Faster - Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2048x1536 Ananad)
34% Slower - Riddick (1600x1200 4xAA/16xAF TechReport)
14% Faster - Battlefield 2 (1600x1200 4xAA TechReport)
33% Faster - Fear (1600x1200 4xAA/16xAF DriverHeaven)
8% Slower - Guild Wars (1600x1200 4xAA/16xAF TechReport)
13% Faster - HL2 (1600x1200 4xAA/16xAF HotHardware)
4% Slower - Halo (1600x1200 HotHardware)
5% Slower - Everquest 2 (1600x1200 PCPerspective)
2% Faster - Fable (1600x1200 4xAA/16xAF DriverHeaven)
4% Faster - NF2 (1600x1200 DriverHeaven)
This averages out to almost an even tie (+1% for 7800 GTX).

It doesn't look like ATI is going to regain the performance crown as some were hoping.

Edit: Added lots more benchmarks.

I'm quite fine with that. Although the card is clocked at a 625 core rumor has it that it is able to be boosted to at least 700MHz and as high as 800.

I'm surprised that a card using a 90nm GPU consumes as much power as the X1800 does. Hmph. Either way it's a really good card....
