As the popularity of the PSP increases daily, an unexpected aspect of the PSP has surfaced; the PSP as a fashion statement. Earlier this September, a fashion extravaganza with the likes of such famous designers as Calvin Klein, Anna Sui, Fendi, L.A.M.B.and others, showed off their wares at a fashion accessory show called Prêt a PSP. Models strutted their stuff down the runway with various incarnations of PSP cases.
Molly Smith, senior director of communications and brand development at Sony said, “Saturday’s show demonstrated how PSP is the must-have accessory for today’s mobile lifestyle. The showcase of cutting-edge designs from fashion’s top talent illustrated the merging of fashion and technology on a new level.”
While Smith’s statement may be going over the top a bit, it can’t be argued that the PSP has definitely reached pop icon status among the tech crowd. Who knows? Maybe the PSP will be substituted for a purse or necklace one day.
