Could somebody explain to me a little about the next gen consoles. I read that the xbox 360 is gonna have 512mb Ram. And if you look around a lot of games are needing 1 GB now on the pc. Can anyone explain this?

Because PC's are running a lot more stuff in the background like windows, firewalls, and other system tasks. If we could just run the game itself like they do on the consoles and little or no background tasks we would probably only need 512.

It also depends on the speed of your ram... 400mhz 512 is a lot better than 200mhz 512. The 360 also has a 3 core processor, and the PS3 has a 7 core.

Err cores have nothing to do with the amount of RAM you need. They just mean that the developers can divide the program thread into however many threads as there are cores. Meaning that processing time is cut down. I see a big problem in this because in order for companies to port games from system to system, they'd have to re-write more now than they did before.

read the news..... There is a huge rumour going around that the ps3 (as we know it) will be called the ps4. Thats a strong rumour too. Makes sense if you think about it but i guess we will just have to wait and see.

I doubt the rumor is true. I'd of thought they'd take the real name with them to E3. Then again, they've been taking some things away since they last went to E3 so, maybe this is just another.

Well i spoke to EB games and Rino games...they all agree that its a valid rumour and that they had also heard that. Im putting my money on the ps4 :D

What an oxymoron... valid rumor.

Anyway... why would they have a PS4 if there was no PS3? Logic suggests that they will go in order of numbers. Just because they aren't going to come out with the PS3 at the same approximate time as the Xbox 360 doesn't suggest that it will be called a PS4. Just my thoughts.
