Rockstar has just announced that it plans to release a brand new compilation titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. It will come out for the Xbox on October 18th in the states. The trilogy will consist of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in a three disc package which will retail for $59.99.
The publisher will also release Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Special Edition for the PS2. It will come with the game itself along with a DVD which has The Introduction, a pre game cinematic that only came when you purchased the soundtrack for the game. It will also include Rockstar’s film debut Sunday Driver. It is a documentary about the Los Angeles lowrider scene featuring lowrider car club The Majestics.
Both titles will be rated mature and will not include the Hot Coffee mod in the San Andreas games. The mod was the cause of the game to be re-labeled from mature(M) to adults only(AO) which led to retailers pulling the game off the shelves. Since then the game has suffered a mild sales setback. According to Rockstar and Take-Two, the Grand Theft Auto series has sold over 45 million copies worldwide.
