This week Nintendo will launch two new products for their handheld line. Their newest addition comes in the form of the tiny GB Micro. What it lacks in growth, it will make up in brightness. The GB Micro claims to have on of the brightest LCD screens around. It will also have changeable faceplates.

A new revision of the SP’s is the second of the additions. Not only will these SP’s have two new colors, but it will have a brighter screen as well. In fact it has a comparable luminosity as the Micro. As of right now only the new colors will feature the brighter screen. No news yet if future shipments of the older colors will have the improved screens. The price of the new SP’s are retailed at $79.99. The Micro will retail for $20 more at $99.99.

This is like their retracting their DS. They just release the DS and now their going back to the advanced? This is a smaller GBSP... wtf? It's like Nintendo is admiting that the DS was a failure!

Exactly. Nintendo is loosing its #1 market in the gaming industry. The handheld market.

I'll join you.

"In other news, a Nintendo rep was killed earlier today due to a severe concussion. His brain was bruised beyond recovery and expanded in his skull killing him. The cause of this was none other than two enraged Nintendo fans after finding out they wasted their money on the DS."

DS is still great, they're just 'reworking' the GB Advance to get themselves into the micro gaming market. Why not package an old machine in a smaller case and make more money?

And i had a full coverage of the Micro at one stage.....would make this article so much clearer if it were ever posted.....:)

But does this mean that they'll stop making games for the DS? Just because the DS is great doesn't mean Nintendo will continue making games for it. They may stop producion on the DS and go back to the GBA style of games.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that Nintendo plans to halt game production just yet, but depending upon the popularity of the Micro the DS games may cease, however i can't see the Micro outselling the DS. Like i say, why go back in technology? Who would buy old technology for a new technology price? Seems a bit of a step backwards to me....

Who would buy old technology
Uneducated parents and children. They think, "It's new so obviously it's good!"
But the reality is, Nintendo doesn't advertise anything about the Micro's games in the Ads... They just state GameBoy Micro. They don't say that it runs GBA games or anything. So people might say, "Hey, a new portable! Obviously since it's new, it's good!" See, some people who buy things don't do any research on the product (e.g. parents are a big example).

Mmmm, yeah, i do agree with you but i also can't see it taking off (IMO). If you see how small it is we're just going to end up with a generation of near sighted individuals!!
