Be afraid. Midway announced today that The Suffering: Ties That Bind, sequel to the unexpected hit The Suffering, will be slashing it's way onto store shelves September 26th.

In The Suffering, you played as Torque, an inmate on death row, about to face a sentence for murder until demonic creatures over-run the Abbot State Penetentiary. This game takes you onto the streets of Baltimore, facing the countless demons that followed you home. This game will feature three alternative endings and beginnings, adding tons of replay value. Like last year's game, this game steers clear of the "Resident Evil" feel by combining slow suspensful moments with fast-paced action, and a fixed first or third person camera. Oscar nominees Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) and Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) will voice the main characters in this game.

The Suffering's big splash onto the gaming industry was felt all the way in Hollywood, and as a result, MTV has gone out and acquired the rights to produce a movie based on the series. Not much is known about the movie as of yet, but if it can live up to the success of the game, it should do fairly well.

The Suffering: Ties That Bind will retail for $49.99USD on the Xbox and PS2, and $29.99USD for the PC. The game will be rated M for Mature.
