Symantec states that Mozilla browsers are more vulnerable than IE. But security firm also finds that Microsoft's IE is the only browser widely exploited by hackers today.

Hmm.. Could this lead to a shift in hackers attempting to exploit Firefox? Or do you still think Firefox is safer?

The general consensus that Firefox is the safest browser to use is pretty much an open challenge to hackers.
You can't neccessarily say that IE's browser is inferior in terms of programming, beacuse 99% of people trying to hack broswers are all putting their time and effort into finding loopholes in IE. With that many programmers disecting a browser you're more than likely to find flaws. MS's only major problem that I can think of was the careless "buffer overflow" vulnerability.
Anyways, my point is what when (or if) FireFox becomes the dominant browser, it will be subject to the same thorough analysis that IE comes under from hackers. THAT is when we'll really be able to tell for sure which browser is better programmed.
IE seems so far behind because the team has to put so much time into hard-coding fixes for exploits that they haven't had time to add a whole bunch of new features. The increasing popularity of Firefox should change that.
But honestly, if I was a hacker I'd still be working on IE. I'm sure the usage percentages of IE is still in the high 90% range.

If that were to happen I'm going to guess people would shift over into opera since that would not be targeted neither:P.

It's an endless cycle. But for the sake of convienience, most people will be sticking with IE since you don't have to donwload/install anything (integral part of Windows) or transfer over favorites =S

Yeah.. lol, It took a lot for me to move over to Mozilla. I'm not one to like to browser hop. But once IE7 comes out, I think I may move back.

I use Firefox. I don't think I could live without tabbed browsing and the google search right up there at the top.... plus the Ctrl Alt Del comic menu, for firefox.

I like Firefox, but it isn't as safely programed as IE. The only reason that Firefox is safer is because its new and many people still have IE. It's always better to hack what the majority are using. Although now that quite a few people are flocking over to Firefox, it will become more of a target for hackers and spyware.
I love my session saving tabs... unless IE has tabs that save and other stuff, I'm sticking with Firefox.
(NOTE: Firefox has nothing, and I mean, nothing to do with my name 'FoxFire'. I choose FoxFire before I've ever even heard of Firefox, even before it was released, and before the public was aware of it. Just to clearify that common misconception.)

IE7, just for your information, will not let you set google.com as your home page. Why? Microsoft vs Google war.....true story.....

Heh, Google vs. Microsoft, both want AOL's babies. 0_o. I wonder who will provide AOL's search services?

IE7 will have tabbing. Also to say FireFox is unsafe will most likely be made untrue with 1.5...
