hey guys i wrote this all up because Natoksane is doing this review stuff so i thought id try it out

Madden 06

The 1st thing you will notice about Madden when 1st stepping into the game, is the new vision cone, used for passing. This may turn off many of the newcomers to the game, but to those die hard Madden fans such as myself, it separates those who can play the game, and those who can't. If you liked to use rookies quarterbacks and were able to dominate, there is no more of that unless the QB has a rating of over 85, but even then the vision cone is still small. If you don't know how the cone works, it is based on the QB's awareness. The higher the awareness the wider the cone, the less awareness the smaller the cone. Peyton Manning has the widest cone, which allows him to see half of the field. The cone is locked on your main reciever before the ball snaps, its easy to change which reciever is your main target by holding R2 and pressing the recievers button, such as X triangle, square, etc. Another change to the passing game is you can no longer just contiune to drift backwards before you throw, in other games a popular stratagy was have Duante Cullpepper run back as far as possible, then heave it up to Randy Moss, this doesn't work with any QB, WR combination. The linemen come off the ball which makes doing that nearly impossible. Aother dimension added to the passing game is using the right analog stick to send your reciever across the 1st down marker. This is useful in 3rd and 7 situations. Recievers can no dive to the ground instead of taking a big hit, not like a runningback dive but, more of a drop and slide technique.

While running the ball now they have the Truck Stick. This is basically the Hit Stick for offence, you can choose to use the hit stick(right analog stick) right before a defeneder is going to hit you, to have a better chance of breaking a tackle. This is a mixed blessing, because if you do this against a stud linebacker such as Ray Lewis or Takeo Spikes, and your runningback doesn't have the best carrying there is a chance of a fumble. There is no more Play Maker control while running, so no more controling your blockers, even though that sucked and I never used it. After you are all alone going to the endzone, you know a big run, you now have the option of more than 4 different ways of running towards the endzone show boating, holding the ball out, highstepping it. I only wish that they would add Deion Sanders' old move. Also you can flip into the endzone by hitting square.

Defence has not changed much since the last year, there is still hit stick, my most favorite thing. The defensive line is much better at acctually making tackles and blowing up plays. There is a new way of switching quickly between players on opposite sides on the field, by holding circle or square and pushing left right up or down, and you will be sent to the farthest player on that side. They have added more animations to the tackling, there are more gang tackles than there were last year.

A new game mode is the superstar mode, this allows you to import either a legend from NCAA06 or NFL Street 2. This mode is only fun for the 1st few times you play it, its mostly a waste of time because you have no control over the offseason. Really the only thing you do is during the season, which is what a normal football player really does. The training camps are very repetitive after a while because the goal is to get as many points as you can in as few plays, and after you find out the plays that get you garunteed touchdowns every play, such as goaline defence then throw a pass is one of those examples. As you progress through your career you upgrade houses from an apartment, to a loft, to a mansion. The sports institue is availble after you get an agent that has access to it, all it is is basically the training camps in the preseason for franchise and it only postional spots, so you can't have a linebacker do kicking drills, you would only do tackling drills.

One of the few additions to the ever popular franchise mode is the game plan. This allows you to run certain plays against a certain defence to more prepare your team for when or if you run that play in the game. This doesn't really do anything for anyone. The franchise mode mains mostly unchanged throughout its long and storied career.

Madden Online still has its fair share of glitches. Some people just cannot stand to lose that they have to cheat, or pull the plug. There are those players out there who must do anything to win, and those who just like to play the game. If you do not enjoy your time spent playing online grab a bunch of your buddies or if you have no friends than people at school and have a Madden tournament at someone's house and charge 10 bucks to play, you can easily rack up 160$ prize to winner if not more. Online they have fixed some of the glitches such as everytime you try to run the hurry up you will be penalized, due to players constantly doing that in the old versions to get 5 yards a play because the defence usually would not get back onsides.

I've always been a huge fan of Madden, even when Madden was 50 bucks and ESPN was 20. This is one of the better Madden's I have played, but they always seem to get better each year. Haha. As with every game there are flaws, and this is no exception. I love the new Vision Cone, because those who know how to acctually play the game stand out more than those who don't. Also you can power run now with an exceptional offensive line, you can shove the ball down the other teams throat. A problem with passing is that the deep ball is very tough to throw without the right amount of touch, this is because the coners have massive hops, even while sprinting full speed the computer manages to have the conerback launch up and make a play on the ball.

thanks for reading please be honest about it alll

I love madden... I'm such a madden fanboy. I don't like the cone however. It's something that I found not necassary. I found if you aren't looking at a guy he won't bother trying to catch the ball half the time. Which is completely unrealistic considering if a ball hits you in the chest, a real tight end/receiver would try and catch it. Although I dislike it, it is something new and I'm willing to give it a shot. It actually makes it a bit more realistic, which is a good thing I guess. Still, I think it's completely unnecassary. The offensive line AI still has major issues and the challenges need to be worked out better. Defensive pass interference should be called more, seeing as how the rules are starting to change.
