I'm wanting to play Tennis this year, but I'm not too excited about going and not knowing pretty much anything about the rules and basics of the game.

Why I want to play? Just seems like it could be pretty fun, and maybe I'll end up being good at it.

So... does anyone else play? I really don't have a clue about anything other than it's played with a raquet and a ball.

Anyone have any pointers or can cover the basics for me? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

I play tennis... but I found I don't like the college level. I enjoy it more when I play for recreation.

Skill takes time for tennis, so don't except to be great right off the bat. If you know a friend who plays tennis, I say have him/her run you through some basic concepts. Maybe even get a few lessons at a racket club. Usually the instructors at those places know what they are talking about. The thing that's better about it is the fact the lessons are 1 on 1.

The good thing is, you have time to try it out. If your a Sophomore, then you have a good time frame to catch on. Sure you probably won't be as good as people who've been playing for years before you, just don't get disappointed if you don't pick it up right away.
