XBox 360 to be Unhackable
By:Mark Woodward

Chris Satchell - Xbox360 engineer - has announced that Microsoft's next generation console will have security built directly into the hardware to make it virtually "unhackable".

The first Xbox's security vulnerability allowed users to modify the hardware (via a modchip) and/or software to upgrade the console's hard drive to illegally store games and emulators. But Microsoft is taking precaution with the Xbox 360 to make it as hack-proof as possible.

Satchell says that the Xbox 360's security has been built from the "ground up" with custom silicon, giving Microsoft the ability to create new levels of security that even the hacker community has "never seen before".

Satchell admits that hacking the Xbox 360 hardware may not be completely impossible, but will take a considerable amount of time, money, and expensive hardware, meaning the effects probably won't be widespread.

We'll see about that...I'm sure someone will develop some software to circumvent the security features of the hardware.

Of course they will, and like Satchell says, it's not impossible but they're trying to make it as difficult and costly as possible to hack......

Within a year of its release it'll be hacked.

Trust me...I know these things...I'm the Oracle...

Unhackable is impossible for the reason that if you were to make it that way what you could do with it would be so little it would be useless. As long as it has several uses it will have vulnerabilities.=/

I highly doubt that, there is always a backdoor

Exactly, you don't have any holes in security you can't do anything with the product. You need openings to be able to use the features. They'll hack it. Just may take a little longer than usual.

give me a break... "unhackable" is a word used by the ignorant... There is always a way... They say the same about Windows Vista and all its Product versions but all it takes is time for some individual to find a flaw...

I don't think you guys are reading the story properly. He isn't saying that you can't hack it, moreso that it will be a lot more expensive to hack it than the xbox......
