For me, basketball and football are always tied for first. I played both growing up until a year or two into college, and I still watch both when I have time. Baseball I follow from time to time, but I would be killed by a true baseball fan in any argument (which is why my co-host for radio shows is always someone who knows about baseball). Soccer (football if you want to be elitist) is up there too, but it's hard to watch it when no television station covers it (other than the ones you have to pay a ton for).

Formula 1 - Only one race of the season left =/ Although next season looks set to be a great one. Any one of 5 or 6 drivers could easily take it next season. Perhaps even more if Honda pull their finger out and get the reliability as well as speed, rather than one or the other which they seem to be doing this year.
I'm a fan of cricket as well. The ashes is coming up soon as well! The Ashes is a series played between England and Australia every two years.

I really cannot stand racing in any form..it's just so boring to me. Sure, I like cars and all, but watching them drive around a track 487 times just isn't entertainment to me. That's a punishment.

I tell ppl I'm not a sports fan... just a hockey fan.
I could really care less about basketball and baseball, but I will occasionally watch Formula 1 and NFL/CFL/college football.
I play/watch hockey almost religiously... but it shouldn't be a surprise considering that I'm from Toronto.

Fencing for the win!
I must say though, airsoft and paintball are both pretty fun.
Only team sport I can actually enjoy watching is soccer, though I don't follow it. Just flip through channels, come across it and enjoy the sport, not the teams or anything.

I don't really enjoy watching racing on the television much, but few things are as awesome as going to an F1 race. I went to the circuit in Montreal a few years ago, and the experience was just so cool! Watching a car blaze by on TV just doesn't compare to sitting near the finish line and hearing the engine whine louder than a jet engine as a blurr of a car zooms by.
The sound of the engines really is what sticks with you the most, you just can't comprehend how inhumanly loud they are unless you've heard them with your own ears. It doesn't sound like racecars pe se, more like racejets.

Heh speaking of soccer I came across this great site. www.soccersucks.net It's funny because pretty much everything in there is true.
Kester
October 27th, 2006, 09:22 AM
While some of it is true the rest is utter crap. For instance:
"Soccer apologists say the reason it is not popular in the US is because the US is not any good at that activity. The US soccer team won the World Cup in 1991 and 1999. Better find another reason."
The world cup wasn't even played in those years!

I think that was a joke to show how much he really doesn't care about soccer. I love that site and I know it will upset many a soccer fan. I think the most convincing point was where people say you run an average of 4 miles during a game. That's less than a rate of 3 mph!

France is successful at participating at soccer. That should say something, especially to the British (http://forums.gamernode.com/).

and this:
Soccer is too simple an activity. (http://forums.gamernode.com/)

what you can't take a joke? I loved the "France is successful at participating at soccer. That should say something, especially to the British."
On another note, I'm trying to follow hockey a little bit more now that I've involved myself in fantasy leagues. Go Penguins, first in the division, with that talented young lineup. Staal, Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury! The Penguins are the future of the NHL.

I used to play baseball in high school, but can't stand to spectate a game of it. Sooo slow and boring.
I love watching American Football, though I'm not cut out for playing it.
Basketball is fun to both watch AND play, even though I severely lack da skillz to pay da billz, so it's more just throwing hoops when bored.
Can't stand soccer.
Love watching hockey.
Ultimate frisbee is a fun game to play...
I'm all over the board.
I guess I'd have to pick Football as my favorite to watch, and basketball as favorite to play.

You obviously have never played Ultimate Frisbee!
Never play that sport with vicious teenage girls. They'll resort to scratching, biting, tackling, and doing anything else violent that's humanly possible if it will prevent you from catching or throwing the frisbee in a manner that might give your team a chance of scoring.
I'm speaking from personal experience on this one...

My fav is whirlyball. :D It's kind of like lacrosse... only in bumper cars. :P It's a bit hard to explain, but it's hellafun to play, especially since you need very little skill. Other than that, I'm an avid soccer player (football, for those outside the US).

my favorite sports at school were murder basketball, unihock & pirates.
the teacher was only there to keep score & administer first aid if necessary.
these games got banned by yellow-hat wearing, namby-pamby H&S people- and parents of kids who tried to avoid the games and so suffered all the more for their cowardice.

Boxing, particularly welter weight, i find the light weight boxers to be more fast paced than that of the heavier divisions, and watching the likes of junior witter sometimes leaves you dumbfounded when the man goes 12 straight rounds and still do acrobatics after.

Ive never been a sporty person, although i used to play alot of football as a kid. Grown to hate it now. I cant stand the game.
Oh yeah and pigeon hunting. Amazing fun. Tease them with bread and soke it then in parafine or some other chemical, and the heat in there stomaches cause the to exploded. Just make traps for them in general. Bastards are like rats with wings.

Paintball and Airsoft are both huge favorites of mine, but my friends and I treat it more as a military simulation when we play rather than a game, complete with objectives and medics.
On the other hand, there's nothing quite as game-like as acting as a human shield for your medic who constantly revives you by tapping you on the shoulder, only to have you get plastered by a wall of plastic bb's traveling at several hundred feet a second... Definately good times, looking back! :D
