[My first review/preivew of a game ever]

First off you can snatch the demo here:

Story:
We start the game off in New York, January 2009. A major cold wave has hit and we find the main character of the game Lucas Kane eating alone in a Diner. Lucas Kane suddenly loses control of himself, and enters a trance like state. He takes a knife from his table and under a spell enters the bathroom. Lucas carves a strangle symbol into his arms and kills the first person that enters the bathroom. After this crime is committed, you take control of Lucas when he snaps out of his trance.

Controls:
The movement controls take a few moments to get used to (as I found myself spinning around in a circle for about a minute). You can also change the camera angle with the right-mouse button, so you're not stuck with Resident Evil type static cameras. And by pressing down on the middle-mouse button you can enter first-person mode. When there are multiple characters in game you can also use the enter key to switch between them.

Thoughts:
The demo held my intrest and I do plan on purchasing the game. The controls are simple to get a hang of, the game is straight-forward (yet fun to play), and has some good replay value as you can change the story in a multitude of ways.

Misc. Info

The game has a Silent Hill/Resident Evil feel. That's how it plays, except you can change the camera angles so it's not forced to 1 static position. In the demo, I've seen nothing about actually shooting in a FPS type of way, but there are mini games that require you to press certain buttons (Like a game with two Simon pads) to do the action. I'd say it's a Third-Person Adventure type game with a nice blend of a Paranormal Thriller. You are also able to control all the main characters of the game. I've seen footage where you control the police detective (Carla) assigned to your case sparring her partner, and Atari's website says you can also control Lucas's Brother (Marcus Kane [A Preist]) and Carla's partner Detective Tyler Miles

I believe Atari publishes, and a company based out of Paris called Quantic Dream developed the game.

It has not been announced about other games being made at this point. I guess it all depends on how they end this one and go from there. But the way the story is, it could very well leave at a cliff hanger. And this is the first game with the character of Lucas Kane.

The US release date is September 20, 2005, and I think the UK will get it earlier. (I've also heard that they cut out some content from the UK version when making the US. I've only heard it was a sexual scene of some kind, I'm not aware of anything else that has been removed.)

The game will cost $39.99

One of the 'mini games' where you must press left and right, the action
you are performing will go faster or slower depending on how fast you
press the keys.

Lucas has an 'morale' meter that changes depending on what happens
during the game, and what Lucas does in each scene.

During certain events a multi-view appears to show you what is happening.

The game is rated Mature, and is due out September 20th, 2005 for PC, PS2, and Xbox.

Hi - I have a couple of questions about this game. First - what type of game is this - 1st person shooter, RPG or what? Second - who makes the game? Third - is this part of a series - is this the first game with Lucas Kane character? If first - do they have others planned? Do you know how much the game will cost? And do you know when they plan to release the game. Thanks. Mary
