Anyone else who are interested in photography? I've been taking a few pictures for some months now and its really fun!

Im more of a horizon photography guy I like to see the open distance, I used to have nice winter pictures with crystal like trees covered with ice

I love the flying playing cards, you should post up some more of those, it turned out really nice. Almost perfect for a desktop wallpaper

If you could get a pic of the cards flying without any other figures or items in the picture, it would look fantastic and make a great backround, and probably be pretty good for other uses as well. I love how the backdrop is such a uniform black, that makes the cards so vibrant.

Thanks. The photo originally had a big bright bench beneath the cards and you could make out the background. I removed all that in photoshop..

It really is cool how you cant see any footprints in the snow around it. I dont know if it was photoshopped or not but it looks really cool. Thanks for the comment. It was pretty funny when I looked at them after I took them because I took them all within the same hour. (the sky changes alot I guess)

glad to hear you approve. i wish it was of better quality, as it's a scan of the printed copy (the only original document, as putting it together in microsoft word almost crashed my computer). Thankfully i still have all the pictures i used to make it.

Just Kidding. But I've been known to have some photography skills here and there. Most all of my pics are from an SLR though...so I'd have to scan em to get em on here. I'll see if I can't get that done. I've got this one picture that was published in an east coast surfing magazine (under reader submitted...no money :() It's got my boy riding a wave in at dusk...a corner of the sun showing, halfway sunk into a dune on the right hand side. My friend surfing a decent wave, darkened (almost shadowed and outlined) in the middle-left of the picture, and a moon to the upper left of him. Can't do it justice without posting it...hopefully soon

I'd say. i'm getting several images of one man against all the odds there. makes me wonder how long it took you to get the shot just right, as such a thing is hard to do with the setting/rising sun.

Thanks guys :) Well the skiier on the horizon was more of a lucky shot. I took the picture of my sister on the top of the hill, and it turned out allright, but as I started to edit it just slightly I loved it, so I moved my sister a little to the left so that she would be in the middle of the sun, but thats all.

I got lucky there I suppose, thank you all again.

Too bad we lost our digital camera somehow and I can't afford a new one...I haven't been able to enjoy my hobby since....

Is like a cheap $40 Wal-Mart digital camera worth it for a temporary use? I don't know the MP but I think it's like 1.5... I know it's a lot less than our old one....but will the quality be that bad?

If so can you reccomend a good quality, good price camera? Preferably with a display screen like our old one, but it's not neccessary...

I wan't to get one of those professional looking digital cameras...You know the black ones with those big round funky lenses..I saw one for about $600 and for some reason it just seemed cool....A guy at my work has a non-digital one and he says it takes amazing pictures..

Thanks D3TON3R :) Yes the cart one is a little photoshopped, I added motion blur to it, and made my bro B&W, then I over saturated the water and rest of the image.

Yes, I allways do photoshopping, mostly basic contrast and colour adjustments like in the last picture. And sometimes I take it a little further like the pictures with the green sky.

The thing that is great about your pictures bombadil is that you pay attention to every detail. Everything is right in it's proper place. You know the pictures of food on some menu's where they accidentally take a picture of the food with a fly on it? That'd probably never happen to you.

That was real lightning :)
The trick is to use long exposure, I used 30 seconds, and I got lots of lightning :)

Brightness/contrast layer: Brightness +20 contrast + 69
hue saturation (Opacity 73%) : Colorize.. hue 50 saturation 25

then I used burn and dodge tool here and there :)

that long exposure one is pretty neat, looks almost like a cartoon. what do you shoot with?

I just have a Canon Powershot A530. Nothing fancy, but it's getting the job done. Considering how dark it was save the streetlights outside last night, I'm amazed it picked up as much detail as it did. On the full-res image, you can still read the streetsign and the license plate on the black car.
That picture was taken at ISO 800 with a shutterspeed of 15", there was a literal ton of noise in the image, I had to do a severe amount of noise reduction which is why the background looks so soft. Trying to sharpen it back up after the noise reduction just didn't look right, so I sharpened it just slightly and boosted the saturation a little bit. That's about it....

I don't believe in watermarking. It taints the picture imo. feel free you use the picture however you want.

And I am pretty sure he was holding a digital camera but now that you mention it it does look like that.

Though that picture may not be as compositionally sound as the rest you posted, there's a certain candidness to that shot that adds greatly to the feeling of you capturing a profound moment of that man's life. If the shot was arranged any "better," then I feel it would lose some of that spontaneity and some of that 'oomph,' if you will.
