Hey guys just noticed that there is NO content in the forums for Nintendo... I think this could be because of the serious lack of nintendo happenings! What do you guys think?

The DS is the worst piece of junk known to man... Nintendo's glory days are over.

Unfortunatly I believe your correct Mr taxidermist. The only thing they can have in the future is the Revolution which looks like the biggest pull to go to the revolution is the downloadable games....every nintendo title. For some reason I feel that it will become a ps3. They promised the world and slowly cut things down and then delayed it. The best thing Nintendo had was the handhelds....now sony took it. Unless they pull themselves out of the dirt with the revolution Nintendo will go the way of Sega...

I suggest you check your facts before making such an agressive statements. In reality, the Nintendo DS has actually sold more copies than the PSP (PlayStation Portable). I would hardly call that 'junk'. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody else does.

Personally, I'm a huge nintendo fan. I have the original GameBoy, the see-through GameBoy, the GameBoy pocket, the GameBoy color (3 colors), the GameBoy Advanced, the Gameboy Advanced SP, the Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and the Nintendo GameCube, but not the DS. Why? Because I have other things to buy (no, no other handhelds). I think that Nintendo has done an amazing job in the past, and have definitely set a standard that was hard to follow (every gamer knows the mario character).

However, I feel that unless the Revolution is totally mind-blowing (which it very well could be, considering we know nearly nothing about it), Nintendo will drop out of the race. Their consoles are dropping in sales, and their competition is eating them up. They NEED the Revo, and they NEED it to be top of the line. One of the things I liked most about Nintendo is they focus on what a console is for. Games. If the company is spending time on crap like beign able to play music, play DVDs, IM friends, or whatever, they're not focussing on the main idea of the device.

That's a good point salad, I never thought about that with the GC. Then again I didn't have a DVD player when I got my PS3 a couple years back so I guess I kinda pinned that against them, :P

To be honest, Nintendo had the great titles on the 64 with Rare was it? It's a shame to see PD and Conker, goto the Xbox =/ (not to mention 007 series going to EA =X)

PD, Conker, Super Smash Bros., and Golden Eye [my personal favorites] were awesome on the 64, it sucks that Nintendo doesn't have those titles anymore (minus the Super Smash Bros.).

I sure hope the Revolution does well for Nintendo's sake. Nintendo hasn't really been up on the latest things. For the GC release they stated that online play isn't that big so they never go any real online capabilites, but how wrong could they be. Online gameplay is now almost required for a good multiplayer game (besides a great LAN party... which GC lacks at also :/). Nintendo needs to stop focusing on what they think we want, and start to focusing on what we want. Most players want online, but they don't need all the IMing, and other features that XBox live has, that's what a computer is for. I at least want simple online play for a LAN party or playing with my friends. I don't need voice mail, IMs, profiles, gamer stats (although that would be nice :D), and that other fancy stuff. I just want online play at least. GO REVOLUSTION! (I hope...)

Nintendo has lost the console industry and the handheld. Im not seeing a bright future with them.

I can't help but agree there. Somewhere along the way Nintendo went from console/handheld giants to ball droppers!

Maybe they just got complacent for too long who knows, they definitely have their work cut out for them to drag their product back up! No matter how good it is, if their's nothing to play on it, no one will use it and less people will like it!

I agree with salad on this one. I actually own a DS lol I enjoy it because I Can still play dragon warrior monsters!(my favorite gameboy game)But also my sister uses it alot, she plays pokemon or w/e on it. Its definatly not junk lol. Also I enjoy mario games and donkey kong so I dont think the hardcore fans will stray to the other systems so fast, I believe they will wait and see what nintendo pulls out of there E-bag.

... I go thru this so much nowadays it's getting annoying, but I suppose I'll educate you guys.

Nintendo is ALWAYS going to have a place in the console market. Yes, console market. Why? If you think about it, Nintendo is the ONLY console maker left in the industry. The next-gen products from Sony and Microsoft are more like home theatre multimedia computers than game consoles. With features like DVD playback, NATIVE HDTV support, and some bleeding edge, insanely complex hardware under the hood.

This much power comes at a price. I live in Canada, and for me to buy an X360, I'd have to pay $500!! I don't even want to think how much a PS3 is going to cost me.

Then look at Nintendo.... the "Revolution" is generally unknown, but we do know that it's based on existing hardware, so manufacturing costs should be low. Consoles are priced so that the makers lose money on each unit sold.... at $500, Microsoft is expected to lose about $100 per console. Nintendo, if they choose to price their console at $500, might lose significantly less, if anything at all (judging by their market, I'd expect them to price it cheaper than X360 or PS3)

Nintendo's always going to have a market. Kids. Kids play videogames. Nintendo has always been kid-friendly. Plus, every now and then you'll find the die-hard NIntendo fan (I know three, lucky me *coughcough*)who will refuse to go with anything BUT a Nintendo console. And how could we forget, soccer moms. Busy moms who hear that the kid down the street has a game console, and now every other kid wants one.

So a soccer mom goes into store....sees a PS3 box with BloodRayne on the front, and reading the box she hears about a "Cell" processor and dual HDTV outputs. She sees an X360 with Master Chief on the front, talking about customizable faceplates and real time online video for $60 a year. Then she sees a Nintendo Revolution, which is cheaper, with a cartoon character on the front and talking about Nintendo games and the cool controller. Do you see where I'm going with this?

With that in mind, my theroy is that Nintendo has dropped out of the race. Instead of competing directly with MS or Sony, they're providing a cheaper, simpler alternative to target die-hard Nintendo fans, kids, non-gamers(oh how I hate non-gamers), and soccer moms =S.

I know what you're thinking.... how are they gonna make money off of soccer moms?? Well you see, Nintendo's in a funny situation. Nintendo is acutally more profitable than Sony's, or Microsoft's console division (part of that is because they make games too). Unfortunately, Nintendo (as large as they may be in Japan) just isn't as big as Sony OR Microsoft, so they don't make as money either way. It would have been difficult for Nintendo to invest in high-tech hardware like MS or Sony and take losses of $100 per unit, especially considering the type of sales they saw with the GameCube in it's early days. Nintendo always managed to make back a higher percentage of what they spent, but still they just don't make as much money as Sony or MS because they're not quite as big.

Nintendo's also a great choice for developers. Have you all heard Gabe Newell shoot on the X360? Talking about how much more difficult it makes his life? He's saying what every programmer out there is thinking!! multi-core CPU's and these advanced graphic solutions are extremely complex, and are going to make programming a pain. Since X360's IBM PowerPC processor and Sony's Cell processor have never been seen before by game programmers, game companies are going to have to invest a ton of money into learning how to program for them.

Again, that's where Nintendo comes in. They use a single core processor based on already existing technology. It's not as powerful, but it's easy to program for. Companies don't have to invest money into learning the hardware. Furthermore, they've launched a program to help subsidise up and coming developers that choose to make games for the Nintendo Revolution.

Nintendo's next console isn't in the same league as Sony's, or Microsoft's. Of course it's not... this was the intention! Yes, Nintendo's shifted gears and they've almost admittedy taken last place, but this doesn't mean they don't have a future. From what I can see, this move gives them a brighter future than the one they had if they chose to keep trying to compete with Sony or MS.

And oh yeah, they've got portable consoles too =P

As long as nintendo can hold onto the Mario franchise they will crawl and scratch and survive forever.

If the "Revolution" Costs $500 it needs to allow you to download all the past nintendo titles for free. I think that may be worth it.

wuugh, so much text, my eyes are bleeding...well, that's just ebola.
In any case, i'm excited about the next gen consoles, the only thing i dislike is all the pre-release hype and speculation. Now, a little is warrented, but insane fanboys can get on one's nerves...just what i think.
