GN: What are the main changes between these two keyboards? What will be the price difference between the two?
AL: Optimus-mini is designed as a second keyboard. It is not intended to replace the main one people use at the moment. Of course, the mini version will be below $100.
Noooo.. I would have hoped for it to be cheap, but for something that good I had false hopes...
What do you expect the price will be at ? :)

100-300 dollars. My guess. If you do alot of photoshop and such it will be a must. I think the hardcore gamers may go for it too. Lets wait and see :D

I might get the Optmius Mini. All depends on how many features it comes with as opposed to the full keyboard. It definitely looks interesting though.

I found this on a couple news sites talking about the Optimus:
"Intending to be launched with an aluminium case and polycarbonate keys, Optimus is reportedly due for release in 2006 at around £200."
We're talking a estimated 250 in USD (£200). Heheheh, if I were to pay that much for a keyboard, The OLEDs in it better last long and be durable enough to stand gaming :P
EDIT:
*does a quick look-up on Polycarbonate*
Polycarbonate is a tough, dimensionally stable, transparent thermoplastic that has many applications which demand high performance properties. This versatile thermoplastic maintains its properties over a wide range of temperatures, from -40"F to 280"F. It is available in three types: machine grade; window and glass-filled. It is the highest impact of any Thermoplastic, transparent up to 2" in special grades, outstanding dimensional and thermal stability, exceptional machinability, stain resistant and non-toxic with low water absorption.
Impact strength
Unnotched polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, making it extremely safe in areas where parts may be exposed to impact. When exposed to repeated heavy blow, the material tends to cold form rather than shatter.
Scratch Removal
Craftics 20/20 Plasti-Polish Scratch Remover is often all that is required to subdue hairline scratches and minor abrasions.
Removing paint or other materials
Fresh paint may be removed by rubbing lightly with a cleaning material such as isopropyl alcohol, or VM-P grade naptha. Then the sheet should be washed immediately with a mild soap or detergent in warm water, and rinsed thoroughly with clean water. Grease and glazing compound may similarly be removed from the surface with the above mentioned cleaning materials. Weathered paint may be lifted off the sheet with masking tape.

It's a really cool idea but it's probably expensive and not really practical at all. Only a n00b would really need that because it would be easier for them... in games, photoshop, anything. After a while you just sort of pick up on the controls and the keyboard shortcuts for games/apps.
DELL should start packing those keybaords in their keyboard bundles... it's great for people new to computing.

Actually, it wouldn't just benefit n00bs. That keyboard can be customized to preform any command you want. Math, HTML, multiple combinations with 1 key.

ouch, i hate that, stupid binding scripts. But I'd get one because it'd be cool to make them all light up different colors in patterns and crap, and little graphics, or say my name across it, haha, the possibilities. but i'd never bind and script for games, so gay, specially for shooters. nostromocough- bah

If I bought an optimus keyboard, I'd make the keys light up in chinese, but they'd still type in english
That'd be totally rad.
