World of Warcraft by FAR. I have been playing Warcraft 3 ever since it came out. When WoW came out, it was the next best thing in my life! Following the story line of Warcraft3 going into WoW makes the game so awsome. Undrestanding the story line a key role in this game and makes it more enjoyable to play. Guild wars is a rip off of Wc3. It seems like GW copied some of the characters from WoW and put them into their game. GW isn't for the hardcore gamer like one that would play WoW and level up to high amounts of levels. GW is all about the skills and such, so that's what didn't like about GW.

Well, pretty much the only thing GW has going for it is its great PvP system and it's free. In all other aspects, WoW is superior.

If you have money for monthly payments, then WOW. If you don't, GW.

In my opinion, the games are not the same experience, therefore you can't reasonably compare the two games accurately. Guild Wars, in comparison to WoW, is more of an action RPG. Because of this, the experience while playing WoW might not be better or worse than GW. Also, I've observed that the graphics in GW are more...how should I put this...more detailed. This may be attributed to the art style of the design directors. The character models in WoW are more along the lines of previous Warcraft games. It's basically like a zoomed in view of Warcraft 3 characters. Almost like they took the basic miniture models from Warcraft 3 and blew the up. but I digress. I don't like killing creatures that are half my size. Guild Wars has no bunnies or small rodents that you have to kill for specs of exp. What's the point? The first time out on guild wars, you fight life size Lizard creatures and 2-tailed scorpions, and actually HUMAN-shaped enemies.
Now this is not to say that WoW is not a good game. The amount of races and character classes is significantly increased over GW. Also GW does NOT have an auction house. This is quite unfortunate. But GW is free-play... and you only have to pay $30 every 6 months (and this is not mandatory either, it's if you want to by the expansions). The first new MAJOR patch was entirely free... you got new weapons, items, dungeons, enemies, etc.
I prefer Guild Wars to WoW.
It's my personal opinion. If it causes you clot an arterial duct, sue me. :biggthump

I've heard this topic about a million times and in the end it's beat out by personal preference. The one that suits you most is the one you like most.
-WoW is time consuming and you pay monthly
-GW is less time consuming and keeps the adventure theme going and doesn't cost you too much money in the end.

Thats the thing, WoW is by far the superior game. But paying a good chunk of money per moth isn't my thing, if WoW devlopers weren't so stupid they could have made more money making it free. Oh well. BF2 is great!

I really don't like MMO's all that much, but I've played both and I think WoW is the better game.
Guild Wars is the better VALUE, especially if you can't afford the monthly service charges. It's still a technically sound game that's fun to play. WoW is just a lot better apparantly. Sorry guys, but I don't see how you can play either game for more than 10 minutes at a time =P

I agree with anyone who posted that you can't compare the two. One is an action rpg (not focused on killing pigs or rodents for 45 days to level up), the other a fantasy MMORPG based on warcraft. I've never been a fan of either. I played wow for three weeks, and by the 23rd mission that consisted of "go to this area, kill 34 of these creatures, and collect 12 of these items, then return to me for a reward" I called it quits. Now there is a bit more to the pvp scene in that game, but it still just isn't my cup of tea. Guild Wars was just too loosely structured for me..

World of Warcraft. I don't have it, but I played it. The atmosphere far surpasses Guild Wars. Still, Guild Wars is playable enough.

It depends what your looking for. Story=GW PvP=GW large amount of classes=WoW Lots of pointless features that seem funny=both because they both have the dancing and such. So if your looking for a great story with a great pvp system that really depends on player skill rather than items and lvl gw is for you, if not I would highly suggest wow.
