EA has taken over a lot, Westwood, producer of the command and conquer universe of games until 2001 was already weakening and it was taken over. Lately the rumours have been that EA will be the publisher of HL2: Aftermath.

EA is now Valve's publisher. But that doesn't matter because they have nothing to do with the actual process of making the game.

True, its nothing more than the Valve being the writer of the actual content, and the EA games doing it in a sellable form, though the reason why some weren't too happy is that EA does get a share of the profits.
