Logitech has launched a new optical mouse which they claim is both for PC users and gamers alike !

From the press release :

Based on the technology that powered the best-selling Logitech™ MX 510 Performance Optical Mouse, the Logitech™ G1 Optical Mouse is ideal for gamers and PC power users alike. This lightweight, ambidextrous mouse captures 5.8 megapixels of surface detail per second on a 12-bit data path (typical mice use 8-bit data paths) to deliver lag-free performance and up to 15 Gs of instant acceleration. The G1 Optical Mouse is plug-and- play, working immediately when plugged into the USB port on a desktop or notebook PC.

And here it is, the Logitech G1 optical mouse - note the cord... :

Thats pretty sweet...I have been thinking about getting a new mouse...but i just love my Intellimouse for non-gaming uses....dont get me wrong its not bad for gaming....just well it's not a gaming mouse....

That is a pretty good idea though more companies need to realize that a lot of gammers are also power users...

Yeah, I know what you mean since I've got a standard Logitech Cordless mouse with a ball so not exactly "optimal" for gaming...but I love it when I'm surfing and spamm...ehh, "power posting" :D

I have an MX1000...it works great! Battery life is AMAZING!
The X1000 uses re-chargable batteries and from what I've read in articles you have to send in your mouse to Logitech when you need to get those batteries changed  You can't/aren't allowed to do that yourself from what I've gathered...
So if that's true you're without a mouse for a week or more...can you conferm that, Gann ?

But other than that I've heard a lot of good stuff about the X1000, fits the hand well, precision is superior etc, etc,

Check out the G7

Very similar to the G5 (like 2000 DPI just no weight options) but unlike the G5 it is 2.4GHz wireless...It also comes with an extra battery to swap out quickly for no downtime gaming...
