I don't know about any of you dorks, but I am very excited for this monumental event (ok maybe it’s not monumental, but it still kicks ass). Four players from each league will face off against each other in a grueling dual to see who can put the sweet spot on that ball more effectively.
The players the will be participating are:
American League:
Jermaine Dye
Troy Glaus
David Ortiz
Miguel Tejada
National League:
Lance Berkman
Miguel Cabrera
Ryan Howard
David Wright
It is a shame that Bobby Abreu is not participating in this years Dirby, because he put on an absolutely amazing performance last year, many Baseball fans (including myself) were stunned to see Abreu smash 35+ homers into the stands, while passing it all off as if it were easy.
But looking beyond that, and looking at the players that will actually be smashing this year, I am going to have to put my vote of confidence out to Big Papi, David Ortiz. This man is one of the best, if not the best power hitter in the game of Baseball and he is entering the All-Star game (Half way point) with a solid 31 homers under his belt.
The Dirby can be seen live on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET
