Alright, well thanks to you guys, you have helped me a lot in deciding which processor to go with and I am now going to purchase the 4600.

Along with that I will be purchasing two 1 gigabyte sticks of Corsair XMS RAM. I can run that in dual channel, and am hoping that it will get along with the two 512 sticks already in my computer.

If all goes well-it should- I'll have 3 gigs. Overkill, yes. Cool? Yes. Why? Because I can.

Anyways, thank you for helping me out.

3GBs? I would ask why, but as you stated, it's because you can. Either way nice upgrades. I'll be getting a 7800 GT in a few days myself.

The real reason is I already have a gigabyte and I wanted to get faster RAM, but I decided, why not just match the timings. Although, if I do have 4 sticks of RAM, that might be a problem for the processor as I have heard AMD doesn't get along well with 4 sticks.

You may have trouble running two 1GB sticks with two 512 sticks mate, your timings will be shot and you'll lose out in overall performance (if it even works).

Stick with the two 1GB sticks i'd say.

Yeah. I was thinking about that in school today. I'm just going to stick with the two 1 gig sticks.

Yeah. I just bought 2 gigs of RAM, and an X1900 XT.

The store was apparently selling the x1900 ahead of the acutal release date, because newegg is yet to sell this, and there aren't many reviews for this card.

Anyways, I had to purchase it, couldn't resist. So I'm going to be getting the processor in another couple months when I get my paychecks rolling in with some good cash again.

^^Who are you talking to?

I don't like Nvidia. They are known to have huge problems when it comes to running high end hardware. I don't like the drivers at all. Sure, Nvidia has power but the drivers are unstable. ATI cards are mature and optimized and run smoothly.

He was talking about something I said a little earlier in the thread.

With that much RAM, I recommend you download the "cinematic" mod for HL2 and play the game. They use extremely high-res textures that make everything look much nicer(needs a 256mb card w/ 1.5gb of ram or more) plus a cinematic intro and a new soundtrack which kicks ASS!!

Thanks, noob. I'll give it a look.

My GPU has 512mb's of RAM on it, I should be fine. :)
