Over the recent days of Brawl, I had a developed an obsession with the Mother series. Unfortunately I was cursed by being only 3 years old when the game came out, doomed to being so far out of my reach. Bottom line, I never played Earthbound.
Does anyone else feel left out of Earthbound, cause I would love to experience the game myself. Hopefully enough people may want it for the VC. but I don't see a gigantic fan base. Just a really devoted one.
Thoughts?

Been dying for the series to be released for GBA in English. They did a port in Japan where the fanbase is a bit bigger, and never translated it for the English-speaking audience. There are some fan translation projects, but pretty much no hope for a retail cart.
So for now I'm stuck with NES emu and smeary, ugly graphics squashed down to GBA resolution.
I'm sorry to say that I really doubt that we'll see much more classic Earthbound outside of Virtual Console or similar releases. If NOA decides to bring back the franchise, they'll probably update it significantly for new audiences. While Earthbound/Mother has a devoted following, with you and me included, it's a small one.

Earthbound is the most awesome SNES game ever. Right next to Starfox and SMW.
If you want more info on Earthbound, and the mother series in general, head on over to Starmen.net.
Earthbound Rocks.

Starmen.net IS the Earthbound fanbase community which scares me due to being the only one but also enlightens me on how great and devoted it is. The art they have is so prettyful, and they have everything Earthbound.
That reminds me, did they release Star Fox on the SNES?

Earthbound...what I remember most about it are the psychedelic battlegrounds...and it is not an easy game...those bullies in the first(ish) town? owned me.

I now has Earthbound! but don't tell anyone...
I feel bad. Starmen told me to! If Nintendo comes knocking on my door, I''m gonna be all like, "but you denied me and the rest of the US to play! It's not like I'm stealing anything cause here there is nothing to steal!"

I highly recommend ZSNES for a Windows PC. If you want to ease your conscience, see if you can find the SNES game used somewhere. It shouldn't be expensive.

Well, I'm still going to buy it if it comes out on VC. More people buy it, bigger chance to arrive in America or possibly in Europe for Mother 3.
Hopefully non-Japan Brawl tells us something.

Whoa! I still have about 50 SNES carts, and Earthbound is one of them. Boxes, manuals, everything. The shrinkwrap is still on most of the boxes. (I typically use a pocket knife to slice around the opening flap cleanly.) I wonder how much money the whole collection is worth. These are all good games. I sold the crappier games years ago.

You'd be surprised what prices you can move some of the A-class high-demand games at, ESPECIALLY with packages and manuals.

Starmen people say that the guide/manual is hilarious and prettyful.
I'm becoming an Earthbound fanatic.
