So, on one of the few precious days left in my holiday break, I went to see Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem. I loved the first film, and I couldn't wait to see the second one. From the trailers I saw, the movie promised to be a gore-fest.

What an understatement.

The first bit of the movie was the necessary background bit for the characters, the town, etc. But as far as the rest of it... well it's basically a town in Colorado getting ****ed. It pushed every button. I'm not kidding when I say they went as far enough as to eat babies. Women, children. It didn't matter, they got for the lack of a better word, owned. Once the fighting started, it became the typical fight for survival seen in the Alien and Predator series of movies, and it really lost a semblance of a story. It was, basically, Aliens against the Predator. Anyone who (quite literally) got in the way was dismembered in as many ways as the Strause brothers could imagine. Those who've seen the previous films will catch little references to them. "Get to the chopper! GO!" Hehehe...

Of course there IS a story, but it's numbed out by the degree of violence and awesome in this movie. I wouldn't say it was good but it was enjoyable. I'd see it again, that's for sure. Though I admit I cringed when the pregnant women had 4+ chestbursters come out of them, that particular thing grosses me out... I was quite shocked to see a huge degree of kids in the theater, most likely due to the fact that the film got a 14A rating here, and their parents probably didn't think enough to consider how damn scared their 11 year-olds are going to be when they see monsters tear people apart and eat their remains, nevermind the parasites bursting from their chests.

I recommend this to anybody who's enjoyed the Predator or Alien films. It was fun.

I'm the kind of sick **** who laughs when people are brutally murdered... My bro and I got dirty looks from the people in the theater... :haha:

I do plan to see it, but I'll probably just get the DVD or download it.

Considering the last one, I'll spend the fiver on the cinema as opposed to the DVD. I wish I hadn't bought 28 Weeks Later, pile of ****e.

AVP R is nothing like the first one. Much better in my opinion.

Yeah, but that's like the Blues vs Fullham Game the other week.

The second half was better than the first but only for 20 minutes or so.

the question is would you enjoyed it as much if you payed for it?

Yeah, it's an alright film. Could of been better in a fair few ways; the Death Match sequence at the end could of been changed. Could of been more scary, gotten rid of the comedy aspects. Still, there was a Doom 2 so I expect a sequel.

yes but also the butchering of the original plot :(

portals to hell opening up is more scary than a resident evil clone imo.

Doom had a plot to butcher?

There's nothing to say where the artifact that had the virus that messed up the research facility came from though. If they do a sequel I'd expect them to use hell and daemons.

And a better film over all.

I thought Doom was a pretty competent film. It's overlooked as one one of the better game to movie crossovers. As you've pointed out, blusey, there wasn't much to work with in the first place, and I thought they did a good job.

As long as Uwe Boll doesn't rape it.

Uwe Boll couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, so it's no wonder his films suck.

I was amazed they were able to butcher the Doom plot. THERE IS BARELY ANYTHING THERE HOW HARD COULD IT BE!?! I'm mean seriously, the only thing they needed in that movie to stay true to the plot was Mars and Demons, but lo and behold they screwed that up. I don't even like Doom I just hate Hollywood. Almost sucked as bad as 28 Weeks Later or the Mario movie.

I could've done a better job on that movie's story. Hell, anyone could've. That was an okay movie, but not too great.

Mario Movie...I remember the cinema...I enjoyed it at the time...I wasn't into Nintendo.

I liked R.E., think they made one or two mistakes with the cutting and pace, went to far toward the action side of things, the laser thing was a bit naff but aside from that it was fun.
