Ubisoft Montreal developed "Assassin's Creed", the same creators of the "Prince of Persia" series to "Splinter Cell" titles, so clearly they are no newcomers in the video game world, but now they have the brand new highly anticipated title "Assassin's Creed", but does it live up to its anticipation?

Plot
In "Assassin's Creed" You play as two characters (Highlight for semi-spoiler)Desmond Miles, and his ancestor Altaïr. Desmond is an ex-assassin who's DNA has the memories of his ancestor Altaïr (I don't want to ruin the story for you so thats all I will say about Desmond). Altaïr is an assassin who brings shame to himself by not following the clans "creeds". He is demoted to the lowest level of assassins, and needs to redeem himself and get the respect of his clan, and master once more. You are sent to assassinate 9 targets who play a significant role in the Holy War (or the 3rd Crusade). You must travel into 3 different cities, them being Damascus, Acre, and Jerusalem to find your targets and assassinate them.

Gameplay
The controls are revolutionary and have not been done before. At first I was a little scared by the controls, thinking it would be a miserable failure, but I was extremely wrong, once you get used to the controls it will not disappoint it is just simply amazing.
The action buttons are basically divided into two sections "high-profile and low-profile". Low-profile actions is what you just to blend in with the people, blending, gently passing people, or other actions that does not raise any suspicion from guards. High-profile is basically the opposite, it is used for escaping other people/guards. These actions significantly raise suspicion from the guards.

Visual
The visuals in this game are absolutely amazing. The graphics are well done, the textures are great. If you just stand on top of the highest point in any of the cities, you will see just how much of a stunning job Ubisoft Montreal did with the visuals of this game.

Sound
The sound of this game is incredible, from animals, to the clashing of two swords, this game offers great sound. When you climb up onto higher buildings the wind even sounds great. The only negative thing about the sound is Altaïr, they should have spent more time picking a better actor for this character, his voice does not belong in this time period.

Negatives
While "Assassin's Creed" is a great game, unfortunately all great games have a negative side as well.
-The quests leading up to the assassinations do get a bit repetitive, you climb up to a "sync point" and then do missions that are either, eavesdropping, interrogating, pickpocketing, and
collecting flags. These do get a bit boring after a while.
-Altaïr's voice actor. I mentioned this before and its basically an average American person's voice placed into the medieval times.
-The Grand-daddy of Cliffhangers, need I say more?

Extras, there are a few extras to this game, the extras are collecting flags in every city/zone. Assassinating the hidden templars in each city.

Overall, "Assassin's Creed" is a great game, a game that only comes around once in a while. If you are a gamer do not pass an opportunity to play this masterpiece of a game.

Maybe put some spoiler tags on this. You say you don't want to ruin the part about desmond, yet you give the spoiler away just before.I'm just saying, 'cos i'd be annoyed if i didn't already know the twist.

Man, I didn't like the game at all at E3 and all the other conferences it was at, but everyone keeps telling me I should play it.

I don't actually get a real sense for the quality of this game from your review, other than the score at the end. Your gameplay section seemed mostly to be about the control scheme, which you called revolutionary. I agree to a point and have said similar things myself, but I think you need to show a clearer connection between those controls and the gameplay. The separate section for positives and negatives seems to tell me more about the game than any other portion of your review, but it's summary. Where was the analysis in the earlier bits?
