I guess it will be appropriate to do a double review for the old movie combination termed "The Grindhouse" Personally, the DVD's are worthy of any action movie and/or zombie movie fans collection. The movie Planet Terror, is IMHO one of the BEST zombie movies I have ever seen up to this point. Death Proof, is not as good as Planet Terror, so if you want to buy one and see the other, definitely buy Planet Terror and rent Death Proof. Anything you guys don't have reviewed that you need, just let me know in the review request section.

thats pretty strange seeing the majority people feel that death proof is far superior to planet terror, including me, death proof is a brilliantly original popcorn movie, showing kurt russel in his best role since say snake pliskin or jack burton. theres moments when the footage starts to get ropey and it seems the film is really badly edited but this is all for the grindhouse effect and the 15 minute long car chase at the end is the best car chase ive seen since heat (lets face it fast and the furious series sucks big floppy donkey c$%k).
As for planet terror well its jus your run of the mill zombie flick really, we've been here before, survivors must slay zombies and make it to safety. though the film is very tongue in cheek and the dark humour is pretty funny, apart from that and the gore nothing really stands out about it.

I enjoyed Planet Terror, though I walked out on Death Proof. Took too long to get started, and after he killed the first girl in his car I decided it wasn't my cup o tea.

Planet Terror was awesome, but I don't think Death Proof deserved to be under the "Grindhouse" title. It was a good movie in its own right (although the Tarantino self parody kind of dragged on), but it really didn't fit the vibe of Planet Terror or any of the trailers. It was more just... boring. Although the ending was awesome.

I think machete was the best out of all of them. :D
If noone knows what I'm talking about it was a fake movie preview that was so awesome they're making it into an actual movie.
Also, some nudity so if that sort of thing offends you, then don't watch.

THEY ARE MAKING MACHETE!!!!!
if your right, I owe you BIGTIME
From the first time I saw that fake trailer I laughed and said, thats not very funny; but would make one HELL of a great movie. So a real Machete huh, that will kick SO much *explitive deleted*.
Also, the reason they put Death Proof into the Grindhouse double feature is because of the fact that if your WAY into zombie movies, such as myself, then you'd know that after such a scary and intense movie like Planet Terror, they would always show funny or calming movies at REAL "grindhouses". Like for the Blob, actors would dress up as the Blob during that movie at a grindhouse double feature like this, and would scare the everliving **** out of unsuspecting moviegoers. So the second movie would have a slight calming effect during it, with mild suspense and action thrown in, then at the end BAM; a HUGE action scene. THIS is the reason Death Proof compliments Planet Terror SOOOOO perfectly.
And I hate that noone saw the fact that Planet Terror is one of the best zombie movies out there. For one, in THIS zombie movie people are NATURALLY immune. And its not really a zombie movie, its a movie in where the symptoms are extremely viscious and make those infected want to spread the virus to the uninfected. But the special features with Planet Terror is pretty awesome, seeing as to how you can turn on the movies, VIEWER REACTION audio to be played during the movie, to get a FULL effect of being at a movie theatre with lots of people. All in all, save up for both or just buy Planet Terror and rent Death Proof. Trust me, the greatest 15 minutes of car chasing in Death Proof is well worthy of a rental.

"At South by Southwest, Rodriguez announced that he would be expanding his trailer for Machete into a feature-length movie. Rodriguez has said in a recent interview, "When I started doing the trailer and as soon as we started showing it to people they said we want to see this movie. Bob Weinstein even said that 'I want to see that movie.' So I thought we would probably make it then. If audiences respond to it the way I think they might then I think we’ll make it."

That was awesome at the end of the Machete trailer, minigun on a motorcycle flying away from an explosion = epic win.

Did anyone else recognize that intro bit from Kill Bill?

I watched Planet Terror the other day at least. It was the most hilarious piece of pointless cinema I've ever seen, and that is a good thing mind you...

Planet Terror > Death Proof. Death Proof was a decent movie, but I wouldn't watch it more than once. Planet Terror, however, I got on DVD, and I've watched it a couple times with friends (sometimes while drinking, I admit) since then.
As for Machete, I have a theater-sized poster for it hanging up in my entertainment room. Right between Kung Fu Hustle and Metal Gear Solid.
