22 more days until the Australian election, I'm 99% sure that Rudd will be our new PM. So, who are you voting for?

Finally John Howard (or mini Blair) is going out of office. Yes I'm American and I know who the world leaders are. Canada: Steve Harper, Britiania: Gordon Brown, France: Nicholas Sarchosy, China: Hu Jintao. Clearly this is a sign of the apocolypse.

Rudd. I've had enough of Howard.

Its pretty much set for Rudd really, unless something huge is dug up or something that tips the polls.

I don't think I'm going to vote for either Labour or Liberal. I'll vote for some small group like the Marijuana Party, or the Shooters Party. One that won't make a difference...:P

zim

Marijuana Party?! Why has noone told me about this? They've got my vote.

So are your elections hyped up and fuelled by money and the sensationalized media like ours?

Rudd is already set, and with the announcement that a rate rise is pretty much on the cards, Howard is majorly shafted!

I should actually take more notice of World Politics, especially of a nation with such a similar political system to my own country's.

Meh, Hu Jintao could be a lot worse, though. Harper isn't the greatest, but it could be worse, still. Sarkozky isn't great. He isn't even good. I don't think it could get much worse than him, really. I don't know much about George Brown, though.

Well Canada is part of the Commonwealth Government, but that doesn't mean you need to take more notice of it.

I've heard some of Gordon Brown's speaches when I was in London this summer, he seems smart but he is like boring Frankenstein.

Could you please stop spamming the thread with crap!

Howard has actually been a pretty bloody good PM when it comes tot he economy and lowering unemployment. He's just made some terrible decisions in relation to immigration, foreign relations and the Iraq war.

Manbearpig
November 4th, 2007, 07:44 PM
Sorry, it just seemed like a good idea at the time. Anyway does Australia have as bad of an illegal immigration problem as America, or did you mean he just added a whole lot of red tape to the immigration process?

jambo
November 4th, 2007, 07:52 PM
Not as bad (being an island we only get boat people coming from the surrounding islands) and yes he did add a whole lot of extra crap to the process. People are being detained without many rights for months and months while they get "processed".

zim
November 12th, 2007, 03:04 AM
Well ****, Howards just announced hes going to throw double the amount of money at problems compared to Labor. The game continues.

Greens? Democrats? Marijuana Party? Not much chance of anyone other than Labor, Liberal, Greens and Democrats getting seats, and the Democrats will actually be lucky to get many.

You guys better get a government fast, ours already broke the record for taking long to discuss what to do. We voted on june 10th, And about 160 days have passed since.

zim
November 14th, 2007, 04:57 PM
Huh? We have a government... We vote on the 24th and find out who won on the 24th.

jambo
November 14th, 2007, 08:02 PM
Rudd is going pretty well with the whole money issue. The Libs are throwing cash around to buy basically buy votes, while Rudd is sitting back and actually spending wisely.

Now that is what I call sevice. State side we have to wade through a sea of red-tape and recounts.

Well that certainly ended up a lot further apart than I expected. And it looks like Howard will lose his seat as well!

zim
November 25th, 2007, 04:48 PM
BL for Howard, he shouldnt have kicked the working man in the nuts and then expected him to vote for him.

Psyborg
November 26th, 2007, 12:59 AM
I often do that to the working man.

Manbearpig
November 26th, 2007, 02:15 AM
The effect is quite the opposite in the states. The working class seem to be social masochists.

zim
November 26th, 2007, 03:04 AM
AHAHAHAHAHA, :D Howard has now completely dumped work choices out of the Liberals policy :P, that transparent ****.

I just found out Rudd's favourite TV shows are Family Guy and The Simpsons. Epic win!

Wasabi
November 30th, 2007, 02:29 AM
Nah, just turn him into some horrible drug addict, convince him to do something really stupid and illegal in public, and sell the story to the tabloids!

zim
November 30th, 2007, 03:22 AM
Both are noble plans, but I'm going to have to go with the second one.

I was reading about it this morning. The Guardian only showed a pair of sunglasses on it's front page, and I thought, "Bloody hell! Bono really is trying to get into politics!"
