I recently installed Linux on my ipod and it worked perfectly. I have a 3rd generation ipod and Ipod Linux is only working for 1st-3rd generation ipods. However its unsupported for 4th generation but you can try it at your own risk. I will update this with some screenshots but you get a lot of cool stuff. For more info go here http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page.
If any of you put it on your ipod share it here,

It works perfectly fine on 4th gens as well (unless your a complete moron). The Video iPod has very little features in linux (can't do iDoom, movies, etc.), so installing the 4th gen linux on the iPod video is a waste of time.
But yeah, I have 4 full length videos on my iPod mini right now. The quality is really bad (because mini's are grayscale) so you had to have seen the movie before to even know what's on the screen. I showed my brother half an episode of Red vs Blue without sound and told him to guess what it was and he thought Caboose and Tucker were Indians... How can Master Chief be an Indian?
The sound also gets ahead of the video depending on the clip size. I have about 15 short Family Guy clips as well on there. Although the 4th Gen modded iPod linux is currently unsupported, it has been working fine on my iPod mini for over a month and a half (longer then you ownage time ><). I would upload screenies but I don't have a digital camera.

I know you can put linux on your 4g ipod but people have run into problems. I don't know why you can't get iDoom working on your ipod got it working on mine.
