View Full Version : Integ VC Leaves what slot open?

Okay, so i'm intending to have some computer parts ordered for Christmas.
Since I don't have a stable job (Yet), I can't build one Like I want to.
The thing is, with This Motherboard, the Video Card is Integrated. Now, I can't remember which Video Card slot that leaves open. AGP, or PCI-E.
I have two Video Cards lined up for either situation. Please, clue me in (It's been a while since i've done anything along the lines of building a computer, so I can't seem to remember.)
Thanks.

Well intergrated graphics cards are intergrated into the motherboard so thats why they suck and they take up no slots, they just sit on the motherboard. So I need the exact name of your motherbaord to tell you if you got an AGP or PCI slot.
Would also like to see the card you have picked out

According to my Google research on my Motherboard, it doesn't support GDDR3. So, i'd have to pick out a new VC.
Board: 845GV-ITE8712
That's the board. Have to redo my VCs, though.

My suggestion to you...Save some money and buy a whoel new computer...and build it yourself we will help you out. Its cheaper, a good expierence and its usually cheaper.

P.S. Want a good GFX card 7800GT ;)

I wouldn't waste my money upgrading either mate. You are much better off saving a while and putting up with your rig for a little longer, then build a new rig. As above, it'll work out better and cheaper in the end. Upgrading will simply waste your money for only short term gains.

I'd also save up for a new computer. I use an Intel 845E chipset on my motherboard, which is over three years old right now. Chances are that your processor isn't faster than 2.5ghz, which is considered pretty slow nowadays.
That alone would put a huge cap on your game performance. Hel, Unreal Tornament 2007 asks for a 2.8ghz processor (or AMD 2800+) as the MINIMUM.
Bear with your computer now, and save up for a new machine. I'd assume that you're gonna want to be gaming, and you'll thank yourself when the machine arrives.
I've got a P4 2.53ghz (socket 478, like your processor) with an AGP4x 6600GT, 1gb of RAM, and an 845E mobo from MSI. Except for the graphics card (formerly my 9700pro, R.I.P) it's a three year old machine, and is steadily approaching the end of it's useful life for playing games, which will be sometime next year.
Anything you get would probably be comparable, except you'd have an AGP8x slot, and a better videocard (which would be bottlenecked by your slow CPU).

Noobman I got a question UT 2007 wants a 2.8 ghz processor but I got a AMD athalon 3500+ that is 2.2ghz that pumps out BF2 and all the latest games at over 100 FPS so does it matter that its under 2.8 ghz and my CPU is blazing fast Salad has the same, and he can testify as well.

The 3500+ is fine, the 2.8Ghz is for Intel chips. Because Intel and AMD aren't the same rating, ie, a 2800 is equivalent to an Intel 2.8Ghz, even though it's only rated at 2.2Ghz.
Don't stress, your rig will be fine.

See, the reason on this entire bit is
Currently, i'm looking for employment. Not having the best of luck, but i'm looking.
These upgrades will be Christmas gifts. as there is nothing really that I want, i've asked for parts to build this.
But, chances are, I might just ask for a new Motherboard as well and run off the PS/Case.
(I could always ask for money, and build myself off the same case. buy a new Power Supply, though.)
With that thought (On second thought, really) - Lets see what you guys can come up with.
Looking for a 1 GB RAM PC (Good VC, preferrably PCI-E Open) - Motherboard, Chipset, everything. No Fan, No Case, No HD, & No Heatsink. I already have those.

Make sure your PSU is capable of powering all your new stuff. If it's below 350 watts i'd be wary.
I'd look for a DFI mobo, AMD CPU and corsair or G.Skill RAM. However, i don't buy cheap crap so you may find these brands out of ya budget! :P
From my last ten years in I.T. I have to honestly say that you get what you pay for. If you can't afford it, save ya bucks and wait till ya can. I saved for nearly a year for my current rig....soooo worth the wait! :D
