Yes, tonight Barry Bonds hit home run number 756 which broke the previous record of 755 held by Hank Aaron. To put this in perspective, most power hitters range from 30-40 home runs every year. If you hit 35 home runs every year it would take you 21 1/2 years to accomplish the feat. It took Barry Bonds nearly 21 full seasons to reach the milestone. Now I know that there is a steroid debate surrounding Bonds (c'mon he's guilty as sin and everyone knows it), but 756 home runs is still a lot of home runs. I hate Bonds as much as the next guy (for different reasons other than steroids and the fact that he's an asshole) but congratulations to him on breaking the massive feat of 756 home runs.
Plus, it won't matter much. Alex Rodriguez will hit 757 by the time he is done.

So who was watching the at-bat? I sure was, thanks to the power of the internet.
Great at-bat, great homerun. Full count after fouling off strike 3. The pitcher missed his spot on the outside corner, running the ball inside. That's a no-no with Barry.
It was a no-doubter. Great way to break the record.
Barry Bonds is the best hitter of all time, even though he's a d*ck and a steroid user.

I laughed when the swarm of people just flew to where the ball landed. I feel sorry for any kid trying to catch that thing...

I lol'd. But it shouldn't be counted. He used steroids, so of course he got home runs.

Hank Aaron is still the better player. He wasn't a steroid monkey and an asshole like Bonds.
I think most men who have some type of baseball skill could hit home runs if they were juiced up as well. I know I can hit the ball about 250 feet or so, and I rarely play baseball anymore. That's also off of a slow pitch. With the added strength (and smaller balls) from steroids, I think I could hit it pretty far.

so...I vaguely remember him admitting to steroid use a year or 2 ago...why is he still even playing?

He didn't admit to taking steroids. He admitted to administering a cream that he didn't know what it did.

Most creams for an itch or rash have some type of "steroid" in them. That's probably what they were going for with that.

None of that matters if you're not a great hitter already. You don't just magically hit homeruns...and singles...and doubles...and draw walks...etc
He's an amazing ball player.

People forget that at the time he was likely taking roids, they weren't against the rules.

Well then Ruth should get one too. Simply for his use of a corked bat.

I love the excuses you people think up...

On the contrary, I'm not a Bonds supporter by any means. I hate him. Plain and simple. But if you are going to reason that because he gained an unfair advantage his records should have a * next to it, then you can reason the same thing about Ruth.
