I would like to just say thank you to all of you that have helped us grow. We have gone from nothing to something in little over a month with YOUR HELP!
Without everyone's help there would be no Gamernode. Just remember, you are the first here. When this place is HUGE! You will be the founding members. So keep up the great work and keep telling your friends what we are doing here.

Yea I think with GamerNode radio and the sweet selection of news (nice site too) that GamerNode will be twice the size of GameShout. For those of you asking why I keep mentioning GameShout.....They used to be the place I went....the forums just went downhill fast followed by the radio. Lets hope we dont see the same happen here :D

Lol, nice to see some familiar faces here. Guess I have to help you with that computer after all :censored: lol.Not now, I am still on the old 2 Ghz Pentium 4 (HT not supported) processor with a noobish graphics card and 512MB RAM. I will ask you when I get my new comp, which assuming this comp lasts as long as the previous Pentium 1 I had, I have another 2 years to go at least.

Sounds like a familiar formula to me! Maybe someone should post a site where people can find out how long they can expect to keep their PC!
Ideally I would replace mine every other week when someone releases a new graphics card or processor or faster RAM or nicer looking drink holder! But in the real world I am faced with when the kids don't need something, when the car doesn't need something, when the house doesn't need something and when someone isn't having a birthday! 365 is not enough days! :P

I've had my PC for about 3 years now... I put 100 dollars into upgrading RAM, 250 into replacing a fried graphics card with a card of similar perfomrmance, and about 300 into sound (Canadian dollars lol).
The fact that I can still run most games on high settings is acutally pretty good. With my older systems, the three year point was the time I got it replaced since it wouldn't run any game at a stable framerate, or it would struggle with even the most simple applications.

I mean I can't believe they allowed such PCs on the market. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:
Edit: I would rather say the motherboard is the problem here.http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/6844/suicide1gy1xk.gif (http://imageshack.us)

Asking fellow people from my classes to join is a problem. They, like me don't have the money to even think about games, let alone upgrading, and because of this many stick to a console where they don't ever have to think about upgrading as far as games are concerned.
People here sure have different tastes from most Europeans and Americans. Or maybe because most of the people I know spend their money on gifts for their girlfriends, chalets + BBQ (not the gamer term) during the holidays, and often go out often every night with friends for a beer. I don't do all those things, just stay at home and that is where my participation in this forum comes in. So I guess I have given you the reasons for that.
This might not sound right, but I hope this forum stays small for as long as possible. I once knew a forum which got big real fast, because of an influx of members, and it wasn't long before it started going down the crapper.
I know this will sound really crazy but I believe a more strict system of punishment so that those who continue after 3 warnings are banned for 3 months. 4th time is 6 months and 5th (3 strikes and you are out) is permaban with no recourse. Goatse is immediate permaban with no further discussion unless its proven that the account had been hijacked, which applies to the trolling case as well.
That way it is hoped the forums are kept clean, and big time leaders in the gaming world be it guys like Gabe Newell will have to look at us in a serious light. Internet is still the Wild West of the 21st Century, and we have to take the initiative as law and order is concerned.

Do you feel it's kept clean so far? I do. In fact, for the last ten years of forum hunting this is definately one of the best sites i've ever been part of.
I agree that we shouldn't get too big too fast, but i don't think you have that problem here. :P
Anyways, you'll always be one of the first members and a productive member at that, so don't stress about being lost in a crowd :)
Kevin Watford
November 24th, 2005, 09:04 PM
Ya the best way for us to keep clean is for the members themselves to police the fourms and let other newer members feel they're welcome but that spamming, flamming, trolling will not be tollerated.
