Ever since I got this comp I have had a strange problem when booting up.

It will start up and ask for system disk a couple times, - I just ctrl-alt-del and eventually it will boot up. Sometimes it could take up to 7-15 times though, and it pisses me off.

Any suggestions?

Take out your Windows CD from the drive =P

If that's not the case, try going into your BIOS---> "advanced bios setup" and look for "boot devices" or "boot order"

set it so that your hard-drive is #1 on the list. Of course, if you ever want to boot up off of a CD or a floppy you'll have to go back in and change it.

No cd's in drive, and hd is set #1. Still happening,

it sounds as if the master boot record is missing or corrupted. i know in recovery console their is a command to fix this, but i forgot it. go ahead and reinstall windows

fusion is fairly correct there, you have a corrupt MBR, but you shouldn't need to fully reinstall. When you put the windows disc in, reboot the machine and boot from CD. Once windows install starts it will give you th option to repair hte installation. Choose that option.

Why the MBR is corrupt could be a fair few options. The most common is a virul attack but it can be hard drive errors etc. Point is, your windows disc will repair it. :)

Sounds like a bad case of installation, if it's a fresh install. Just go reinstall the whole darn thing. It's not worth to attempt to repair it, when a full format would do the job.

That should work if not, there is always the good reformat and start fresh ;)
